#Coffee Journey
The second issue of the coffee theme is Market Lane.
If comparing to domestic coffee, it's probably akin to starting an expedition 🤔
Initially, we bought their beans from the official website. They have both Italian and pour-over beans, with a rich variety, high frequency of new arrivals, and stable quality. They're the kind of daily beans we repeatedly buy. Market Lane's packaging design is pretty good too, simple and modern.
A while back, Market Lane launched a discount subscription, randomly sending a pack of fresh beans ranging from light to dark roasts. They also included a canvas bag as a gift. We currently don't have an Italian coffee machine, so getting dark roast beans was a bit of a worry, which is why we later unsubscribed. Instead, the canvas bag became our go-to grocery bag, good quality and looks great. Speaking of which, there's a photo with a girl in red using the Market Lane shopping bag to carry flowers, it's beautiful.
It's worth mentioning that Market Lane's earliest physical store opened near the famous Victoria Market in the city (affectionately nicknamed Vic Mum by the Chinese). This seems to be the origin of the Market Lane name. Victoria Market is a great destination whether you live in Melbourne or are just visiting, especially on Saturday markets. If you're at Vic Mum, then Market Lane is a spot you shouldn't miss. It's perfect for sitting down, watching the street scenes, daydreaming, and having a coffee chat with friends.
Their pour-over coffee is highly recommended. The one I had in the store was an Ethiopia wash bean with a strong flavour of rose and fruit, where the fruit flavour is akin to replacing summer roses, and the rose flavour has its own personality. As for milk coffee, both of us feel the output is not stable enough. With Market Lane's coffee quality, the standard of milk coffee could certainly be higher.
